Saw this advert on a truck and couldn’t help but chuckle a little. Very creative and to the point! Almost ran out of room though for the wording..

I’ve never used geek squad, but I’ve seen enough horror stories on the internets to make sure that I never let any of my friends deal with them.
also, I think I can preconfigure my own machines thank you very much

Knowing Best Buy, they’ll probably have lawyers knocking on this guy’s door sooner or later.

Definitely NOT worth the time, energy, or money to worry about something like this.

When it comes to trademark infringement, it’s -always- worth the time, energy, and money. Failure to contest a trademark infringement when you’ve been made aware of it risks losing your trademark. Also, a big company like Best Buy throwing a lawsuit at a small business is peanuts to them. They can drive the small business bankrupt in just legal fees without putting a dent in their own profit margin before the case ever goes before a judge.

What do Geek Squad actually do?

Pretend they know more about your computer than you do while installing tons of unnecessary crap while they “configure” your computer.

And then charge you close to $400 for doing simple shit “your friend’s friend” can do for like free. True story.

Almost anything.
Amp wiring, head unit installation, fixing computers, upgrading computers, repairing computers…
Configure new GPS, install new GPS, all that shit.
Basically anything you can do by yourself of searching online for 10 minutes or waiting a day at most for a response can do.
They wanted $70 to run amp wire for my car.
It’s probably about an hour of work for anything they do.
I bet they make it seem like it takes longer by having you drop your car off.

And you get a lifetime installation guarantee that should anything go wrong as a result of the installation, its on their dime, no yours.

Geek Squad is there for the everyday pc user and is not marketed or intended for any advanced user. Yes if people did their research they could probably solve their problem without GS’s services. Yes they charge a lot because they make no money on computers and people are willing to pay.

So it’s OK for them to overcharge because they had a bullshit business strategy to begin with?
