    3. What are you blocking, a poll and a Google counter?

      • No, the long list of servers on the right which are trying to track whoever is browsing the page. You can also block those trackers with Ghostery, another FF plugin.

      • blockign everything that says “allow X” on it, so all I’m permitting is two of them.

what it means is that when you visit a website, most people think that they’re just loading content from that one website. in this example, there’s FOURTEEN other sites that you’re loading shit from. do you trust all of them? should you expect to trust all of them? even here on MCS there’s sometimes up to 10 different sites that try to load. It’s not so bad now that google’s adsense isn’t around, but it’s still a stretch to expect people to just trust ANY website to be safe, and for them to make smart decisions as to what they’re going to force on their users.

I’d like to think that I’m in control of what I’m loading up in my browser. it’s a crazy I idea, I know.

      • It’s the opposite, the poll and the google counter are the only things they AREN’T blocking, since the option for them on the list is to block them (meaning they aren’t now). The options for the others are to permanently or temporarily unblock them.
