*EVERYONE: people that live on the gulf, that’s about it. the rest of the world really doesn’t give a fuck, sorry

It doesn’t effect me (yet or ever), but it does enrage me. But I’m still hoping we can learn from this that giant corporations don’t give a shit about the “small people” and we can dump a few billion into alternative energies.
June 21, 2010 at 9:45 pm
Actually, it does effects everyone. Especially fish eaters and people who drive.
June 22, 2010 at 1:43 pm
Well… no, not really. I live on the other side of the world and drive ethanol. I’m secretly pleased the USA is getting a taste of the capitalist backlash it’s foisted on the rest of the world for decades.

Has the oil spill reached the Charles yet? Then again, how would we know?

@tiki – That mindset is the problem with the world we live in and why it should be and probably will be taken away from us. You should all care about this.
June 21, 2010 at 9:08 pm
I care more about that than I do Haiti.
Vote for me and I’ll give you 500 million to help fix it.

Am I the only one wondering what the white stuff in the second picture is?
June 21, 2010 at 11:20 pm
Sand?
June 21, 2010 at 11:21 pm
Yes. Because it’s quite obviously SAND. Or they’re doing the biggest oil-bump on the beach EVER.
June 21, 2010 at 11:22 pm
It is horrible, but that bottom picture looks really cool.

It gives me a weird craving for salad.
June 22, 2010 at 8:42 am
Hands down, it’s the most effective shot of this whole disaster –at least for me. All the wildlife death & crap-on-beach stuff is awful, yes, but I’ve never interacted much with marine animals, and scuz on beaches is something I’ve already seen (although much more benign scuz.) I’ve a lifelong love of bodysurfing, though, and that wave just makes me want to do the lumpy yawn.

And the mouth breathers that have enough mental retardation to announce they that they think this is a natural event…. you will be removed from the breeding pool.

A guy in my office said “This is no big deal. Oil leaks into the ocean through microscopic cracks all the time.” On the way through the parking lot, I noticed that air was escaping from his tires through microscopic gaps in the seal. So I slashed his tires. It was no big deal, the air was escaping anyway.

People.
Do some research.
Just because shit is washing up on your shores doesn’t mean that it hasn’t happened elsewhere many many times before.
