    Ch3x0

    *joins the applause as well*

    lhamilt2

I would join the applause, but there were so many grammatical errors that I want to find the person that made this and “kill their fucking dumbshit ass!”

    Mayyday

    *adds to the growing applause*

    BAWWWWWW

This is stupid. I think it’s pretty clear that the way people type on the internet is a direct result of shortcuts taken in, generally, fast-paced IM conversations as well as in texting, in the days before phones came equipped with QWERTY keyboards and were able to hold like 160+ characters per message.

Besides this isn’t English class and AP/MLA formatting isn’t required. Not to mention the fact that’s it’s generally much easier to include the nuances found in spoken language into typed/written when you’re given more liberty with spelling and/or grammar, even with syntax.

    nyoki

Also, everyone (e1) has shortcuts they use. I almost always use w/ and w/o (with and without), not sure why I picked these three up. I don’t even know where or when I picked them up.
Then I have some math shortcuts that I use in normal writing:
    st = such that
    ?, + = and
    ? = or
    ? = all, every
    ? = each
    ~ = approximately
    ? = nada,
There’s prolly (probably) more, but I can’t think of them now.

    nyoki

Damnit, when did alts stop working?

    Denmarkian

Are you talking about windows macros? Like Alt+0248 for ø?

Those have never worked in HTML.

    nyoki

¶ always works, why don’t others?

    racmar

    *joins the thunderous applause*

    figosound

    tl:dr

    flintlocke

    Definately.

    nyoki

    lol?

    AgZed

    *applauds*

I was looking for Mother’s Day cards the other day, and found one that said, “Mom ur the best, I love u.” I was like what the fucking shit. Shit like that has its place, like when you have limited amounts of space or time. Anywhere else is the place for proper fucking English, because no ones going to take your high-functioning Aspergers, marathon-running, million-dollar-making, supermodel-banging ass seriously if you spell like a fucking retard. I mean shit, it’s not hard…

    Kandi

    WHAT?! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!
THERE’S A THUNDEROUS NOISE HERE AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU’RE SAYING!
    WHAAAAT?!

    nyoki

Agreed. When I’m writing anything important, I use full proper spelling and grammar. If I’m explaining, it’ll be proper, even here. If I’m just quick commenting, whatev.

    artation

Interesting, but it turns out that nobody writes as if they’re illiterate. They write as though they were illiterate.

    nyoki

    🙂

    Jester-Noir

This would be cool, if there weren’t so many grammatical errors in it.

    EXTREME ENGLISH

*joins applause* Now I am an good grammar user.

    lhamilt2

i’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you used “an” incorrectly on purpose! XD

    Cy85

I’ll join with everyone else in wishing I could applaud this message if not for all the grammatical errors the author himself isn’t consistently using. Also, a great deal of punctuation is missing in some places, but used in others (asking rhetorical questions still requires a question mark).

It’s like seeing an Olympic gymnast set up for a great vault and spin through the air perfectly, only to slam face-first into the mat.

The fun in being a grammar nazi is catching other grammar nazis fumble. (And yes, I text in whole words and complete sentences when needing information).
