That’s a German MP40, and yes they did use it.
However it was limited to about 1500 rounds (not a whole lot) and you could only do about 2-5 round bursts.

A.K.A. the M3A1 “Grease Gun,” known for its intentionally slow rate of fire and extremely low misfire and jam incidences.

The energy produced by the curved barrel above was such that only the very first shot had any accuracy at all — not that you could aim around corners anyway — and the barrel would heat up so quickly that the curve would straighten itself out. Pretty much a failed experimental “CornerShot.”

My bad, you’re correct.
But I am still pretty sure that the Germans invented this for the MP40, which wouldn’t be that hard to adapt to the M3A1.
Nice concept, just pretty impractical in the field.

Not sure which was first, but it may have been the Germans. They did make a badass prism/mirror attachment for theirs so’s you could aim.

USA; we lock a bunch of scientists with off the charts IQ into an underground facility, and put a guy with an IQ below the average to give them orders.
