So very true and also the reason I no longer love the show but hate it.

very true indeed. kinda sad, though, i will say, i still like the show. i like the ’99 version of the characters better but whatever.

The old stuff was funny in a odd way, I don’t know how to describe it. New stuff is just “Hurr Durr I farted and punched you in the face durrrrrrrr.” I hate it.

It’s just character evolution… for better or worse, no long-running show has static main characters throughout the entire run.
And I know it’s hip and cool to hate Family Guy and say “it was soooo much better before they canceled it”, but I think it’s still really funny.

Actually, I’ve never been popular, and I stopped trying to be years ago.
The show sucks; mainly because there used to be a method to the madness, now they make a point of there being no reason to have a method to the madness.

They still come up with some good funnies now and again.

I stopped watching a while back, partly because of the shift in characterization. I must say, Brian did become a liberal douche (a subspecies of the common garden-variety liberal) which is sad since he was my favorite character. Ah well, at least Peter is still consistently funny.

its the same with every cartoon, the scriptwriters get more lazy with every season and so have to emphasize the character flaws more and more just to keep it going
its like adding breadcrumbs to the plot, just to fill in the holes where they ran out of ideas
nowadays, family guy is pretty much a loaf of bread with chunks of other stuff in it

To say character evolution is necessary is such bull shit. King of the Hill, Arrested Development, The Simpsons, The Boondocks, and Futurama have all been funny throughout their respective runs and their was literally no character development in any of those shows.
April 7, 2010 at 5:15 am
Lela finding her parents totally wasn’t character development.

Simpsons hasn’t been funny in 10+ years now….

Yea the latest episodes dont make any sence at all, one of m that the guyz need a new black guy in their group and they find one, beyond that episode its just the 3 of m again
Looks like Seth and the lot are out of ideas, the show might die for the second time
April 8, 2010 at 9:53 am
Cause they fell out with the black guy because peter thought he was doing louis or some shit… Damn that was weeks ago, like i can remember. Go ask Claus.
