It’s the visual illusion, Since Obama is so much taller than that Japanese Emperor, with tricky camera angle, it looks like Obama was bowing to that Emperor. In reality, he was actually on the ground kneeing down in front that Jap.

Also, since I lived in Japan for 7 fucking years, I know this bow is bullshit and not just for shaking hands (which is not totally correct, but is still acceptable). This deep of a bow is when is used to address a superior. What Obama is doing is acknowledging that he is personally inferior is this person (so, much for equality I guess).

Even the Japanese acknowledge that an estimated 1 to 2 million Japanese would have died had the Allies invaded. My wife’s aunt, who was 14 at the time, was trained to attack Allied soldiers with a naginata and she told me she would have been extremely lucky to kill one person before she to was killed.
And yes, the Japanese were bad guys in the classical sense, they even admit to it, because it was official policy the way they treated anyone who wasn’t Japanese (especially Koreans, Chinese and Allied POWs).
But if you want to blame the Democrats for war crimes (since FDR & Truman were Democrats), go right ahead.
