It would help the color blind. My room mate sees green lights as “vaguely grey” or so he says.

Yes, but you only to see ‘a’ light. The shape difference makes knowing the color irrelevant. I assume that the colorblind look at ‘which’ light is lit now, also assuming they can’t really tell any of the colors.
