      • No Brushaway was right, only sutenvulf doesn’t understand that I’m a straight girl who simply already has plans for the possibility of another reality in which I may be a man.

Also Brushaway, both spellings are correct but “judgement” is British.

        • Is it? I didn’t know that. It’s funny how what we learn is sometimes dependent upon when and where we learn it. I grew up in NYC and spent some time (off and on) in France (where I went to a French school). While there, I took English as my foreign language. They taught British English there and clearly some of my vocabulary was learned there. There are some words that I spell in the British way, there are numbers and letters that I write using European notation. I guess I just learned things in a kind of hodgepodge way.
Now that I think about it, you can see the same sort of thing in my boys vocabulary and accent. Some of the words and phrases they use are clearly in a NYC accent and others in a distinct West Virginia accent. The eldest would have been 11 when we moved and the other two were 8-9ish.
          Weird.

          • I think that’s wonderful, to have so many different influences while growing up is a beautiful thing for sure. The only reason why I’m a little like that also is because of my parents who were completely different when it came to culture and habits but see I never even left Europe so it’s all just very subtle.
I can’t tell the difference between all those American accents, unfortunately. I know that there is a region where people drop the G at the end of words like “interesting” but that’s it. Oh and obviously Southern accents but there seem to be loads.

            • At least some southern accents drop the g, and slur the r a little. I guess that’s what Texas does. Interesting is kind of like “intrestin”
              or something.

            • New Yawkahs drop the Rs and give it to southern/mid-atlantic regions so they can say things like Worshington. We also tend to pronounce Ts like a D. Think Hugh Grant trying to pronounce Forget about it in a New York accent.
“[Frank is trying to teach Michael to talk like a mobster]
Frank Vitale: Here, try this, “Hey, fuggeddabout it!”
Michael Felgate: Hey, forget about it!
Frank Vitale: No, like this, “Hey, fuggeddabout it!” Change you T’s to D’s.
              Michael Felgate: Hey, fuggeddaboud id!
              Frank Vitale: Id?
Michael Felgate: You said change Ts to Ds!
Frank Vitale: Not the last one! OK, forget that one, try this one, “Get the hell outta here.” No Rs.
Michael Felgate: Get the hail outta hee.
              Frank Vitale: Not hee! Heah!
              Michael Felgate: Hee!
              Frank Vitale: Here.
              [Hands Michael a pistol]
Frank Vitale: Stick it in your pants, maybe you’ll look the part. ”

Then there’s Brooklyn and the Brooklyn/Staten Island combo.

    4. I like her as an actress. I think that she will have a good career, post-Potter. I just don’t get why everyone seems to want to oversexualize her, perhaps because, not inspite of, her being 18. Look, she’s not unattractive, but seriously, she earns her place in the movies for her acting skill, not her looks. There are hundreds of 18 year old women on an average University campus who look as good as her.

    5. I never get a look like this when I’m stalking women.

    6. I find her attractive just because she is Not oversexualized. It is the innocent/cute thing that gets me. If she dressed sluttily all the time, it would be over for me.
