It’s not your final velocity, which is your initial velocity plus your acceleration times time, that kills you. It’s the impulse, which is your mass times your change in velocity divided by change in time.

this one says that it’s not your final speed that kills you, it’s the force of your sudden change of momentum. If they wanted to they could say it’s not the delta y = v sub zero t + 1/2 * a*t^2, which is the distance you fall.
