I made it through the first season, lost interest by the time the second season started.

A four pack costs sixteen bucks. I’d rather just bite someone.
January 10, 2010 at 4:38 pm
You can actually buy this? What’s it made from?
January 10, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Sugar, water, orange dye number 7, and retard bait.
I hate that fucking show.
Its extremely preachy, not clever in the slightest, has nothing but 2D characters that serve only as functions of plot points, and on top of all that its boring. Oh and its really shitty looking.

They are all soap operas. People who laugh at the idea of daytime drama, have no problem loving this stuff, w/ all its drama and twists and freaky people. It’s true of even the better made ones, like Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad and Rescue Me. Those are the ones I’ve seen; I’m sure there are many more.

i like all the ones you listed. accept sons of anarchy. i never saw that one. i heard its hamlet but with a biker gang.

I am a SOA addict. It is definitely based off of Hamlet. I have read Hamlet many times before SOA even came in to the mind of it’s creator. There are definite plot points: Mothers relationship to son, Step father acting shady, Mysterious death of father, Hamlet going AWOL, Feud between Hamlet and his friend… I am sure there will be more too. I like the character personalities on SOA and True Blood. In fact HBO makes wonderful TV Series: Sopranos, Deadwood, True Blood, Rome, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm ETC…
All good TV series is filled with drama and well told stories are always retold.

It’s not about how well written it is, it’s about how it’s told. They add characters in at opportune times w/ no lead in, Tru Blood was ridiculous in this aspect; people come back from the dead in the most spectacular ways, previously unknown family members show up and the plots are all about keeping the drama up at maximum as they stretch it out for weeks. The end of an episode doesn’t complete it, a regular drama show would. My point was that people who scoff at daytime soaps will watch these shows and not see the connection. Also, I’m not convinced Hamlet isn’t a soap.

Either way Hamlet is a damn good story. Each episode does have a story loop with a little them coming to an end and a lot more open. Don’t remember anyone coming back from the dead. Although Vampires do tend to do that. As for unknown family members showing up creating drama.. isn’t that a lot like reality.

I’m not saying that soaps are bad, there have been a few that I’ve liked over the years.
January 11, 2010 at 10:38 am
Deadwood – canceled
Rome – Canceled
Curb – ended
Sopranos – done
HBO sucks now. They put a really talentless scag in charge and ever since they’ve had nothing but horrible new shows like this piece of crap.
SOA started as Hamlet to set up the character relationships but pretty much let that go as it matured.

what exactly do you think it’s preaching about?
vampire rights? seriously?
January 10, 2010 at 11:21 pm
A few people I know are convinced it is thinly veiled commentary on gay rights. I don’t really agree with that since homosexuals don’t kill people, or at least not anymore than heterosexuals do.
January 11, 2010 at 12:20 am
ffs sake they even called the vampire revolution that is posited “coming out of the coffin”.
It’s beyond obvious. Commentary? No its quite simply a show that bashes you over the head with its stance.
Its practically propaganda.
January 11, 2010 at 1:17 pm
A few people you know are closet fangbangers sounds like.
January 11, 2010 at 12:18 am
If you never saw the extremely obvious gay = vampire shit this show shoves down its viewer’s throats like the cocks they crave then I, sir…cannot help you.

Excellent scripts from episode to episode and the casting couldn’t be more well rounded than it already is. I hate the dirty South but found amused how much this show annihilates the Twilight franchise film adaption as far as recent pandemics of vampirism goes.

I’m so hooked on this shit. It’s like liquid Sweet Tarts.
