I think this was from a travel photo journal that an American mother and daughter made on their trip through Afghanistan when it was expected to become a regional economic and academic powerhouse.

Under taliban rule, the women would have been stoned to death or beaten in public, or even may have had acid thrown on their faces for not being covered in public. American occupation may not be the end solution but removal of the taliban is a good start. Personally, I think the entire region should be made into one big sheet of glass.
