Great movie. That opening shot was just beautiful. Still deciding if I want to buy it.

January 2, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Steal it. Buy cheaper by the dozen 2.
January 3, 2010 at 7:25 pm
I liked the opening sequence more than any other part of the film.

make sure you know your options in buying it though. there’s teh standard dvd, the ultimate dvd, the bluray, the black freighter ultimate bluray, then there’s one version that comes in that owl ship, and there’s another taht comes with mandarin subtitles. that’s the one that I have.
January 5, 2010 at 7:04 pm
I’d buy the ultimate dvd. You speak Mandarin?
January 4, 2010 at 7:39 pm
There’s one with a fucking owl ship? HOLY FUCK YES

Buy?With Pirate Bay and Demonoid still around?
January 5, 2010 at 7:25 pm
I only use those to watch movies I am not fond of or don’t feel like buying a ticket for. I buy films I like because I am a filmbuff.
January 5, 2010 at 7:47 pm
Why would you watch movies you don’t like?
And how do you know you don’t like them before you watch them?
This seems pretty silly.
January 5, 2010 at 7:58 pm
After you watch enough movies you can tell by watching the trailer how good a movie is going to be. Also who is directing it is a tall tail sign.
Sometimes I am watch movies I know I am not going to like and to pass the time. Also a great way to see mistakes in film. Not silly at all.

Either way, if you want the movie industry to continue to exist and crank out movies that you’d want to see, five-finger discounted every movie you see just because they can’t legally stop you is not the smartest move in the world. Pay for the movies you want to see more of, or they won’t keep coming.
January 5, 2010 at 9:55 pm
The movie industry does just fine with pirate movies. Don’t buy into their silly PSA’s. The movie industry rips off it’s customers plenty too. $10 per movie ticket? And don’t even get me started on food? And DVD’s are a joke.

Hollywood had it’s biggest year ever last year, almost $10 billion.
The video game industry laughs. Modern Warfare 1 sold over 13 million copies alone. Almost $1 billion for just one game, with at least the same levels of piracy.
January 6, 2010 at 1:43 am
Did you count dvd sales and rentals into Hollywood’s big year?
January 6, 2010 at 10:21 pm
Shit. No. Just box office.
January 5, 2010 at 10:05 pm
What’s pitiful is that you;re correct. You can tell by the trailers.

(Looks at Comedian) “Aw man, I loved Commander USA’s Groovie Movies!”

Find it interesting that there are 2 versions of this picture, this one which is unedited, and another where they removed certain details of the characters were either removed or smoothed out.
Here is the alternate picture, spot the differences.

The Best 2009 movie!
January 6, 2010 at 5:42 am
Was it the only one you saw?
Or maybe you never read the comic.
Seriously, bland adaptation without any understanding of the source material. Snyder just took every fucking page of the comic book and added 23 CG frames between each.
January 6, 2010 at 5:47 am
And that is a problem?
Some of us didn’t want to see anything more than the comic in movie form.
Perfect? No. But I have seen 4 versions of the Count of Monte Cristo. Each one was was a pathetic hack job.
I am still waiting for the version that is, as you say “every fucking page with 23 CG frames between each”.
Sometimes that is the best you can hope for.
January 6, 2010 at 6:01 am
I disagree… As cool as the comic: each one with its strong and weak points. Can the movie have all the dialogues and subplots? No. The comic have the extended cool action scenes of the movie? No.
Other movies of 2009: Avatar, Wolverine, Star Trek, Transformers 2… there is others that i didn’t see, like ‘Inglorious Basterds’, but among many, Watchmen was the Best!
Ps. More CG please…
January 6, 2010 at 11:22 am
Thats because other films you mentioned are mostly bleh.
Wolverine, Transformers 2: I don’t even bother to rs.
Avatar I’m gonna see tomorrow.
January 6, 2010 at 5:43 am
This was definitely the best movie of 2009.
I went to the theaters to see it twice, downloaded it and watched it a third time, and am now looking to buy the directors cut… for region 2… without having to buy a blueray player… not that easy to do.
January 6, 2010 at 8:30 am
Great movie, but I wouldn’t say best of 2009.
I’d either vote Star Trek or Avatar best of 2009, but then I haven’t gotten to see every movie I wanted to yet. Haven’t seen Sherlock yet, missed several I wanted to see when they were in the theaters and aren’t out on DVD yet.
