Gene Roddenberry would not approve of the shakey cam.
December 31, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Nope I think he wouldn’t have approved of the entire movie, too much exploding not enough treking!.
Though I will say, it was a good action film and had some great scenes, I just didn’t think it was a good Star Trek film

Compared to all the Trek abominations that have occurred since Gene died, the latest film is fairly benign.

I dunno, some of the TNG films were good (well the first 2 were anyway) VOY wasn’t terrible , thought it did have some AWFUL episodes, DS9…well… meh, I liked the relationship between bashir and O’brien that was it. ENT, the less said about that the better.
Like I said it’s not a bad film, in fact I quite enjoyed it, there was always just a tiny piece of me going “urggggh doesn’t feel like proper Star Trek” I didn’t like the way they implied in the comics that Geordie made that HORRIBLE ship at the start

Especially compared to nemesis.

Same level of Nemesis: Forget the plot and have fun!

I loved this movie and will be seeing any sequels. I am not die hard trekster, so the little nerdy nuances escape me. all in all I thought this was better than 1/2 of the original movies (I saw several of them in the theatre, including Wrath of Kaaaaaaan), and I though they did an awesome job casting the characters.
so there

^^This. I didn’t “love” it, but I did enjoy the movie.

I hate this movie, and the more I think about it the more I hate it. The script is the laziest piece of crap ever. The only reason anything happens is to move the action along to yet another cliched action piece. It ignores real science AND established Trek science. Someone should explain to the filmmakers such basic terms as “galaxy”, “supernova” and “black hole.” Oh, and “plot.”
Argh.
Red Matter? What the frig is that? Oh yeah, it’s red and looks pretty on screen. It’s is almost not entirely unlike antimatter, but red, and pretty! And Spock is carrying enough to devastate the entire galaxy, even though he just needs a little drop to blow up a star. I hope he drives safe!
Oh, and now our solar system has a black hole IN IT. That might cause problems with, I don’t know, existance?
Oh how I hate that film. Its popularity is inexplicable.
