I hate when people walk their dogs and leave them tied up like this. Don’t walk your dog while doing errands unless you can do them without leaving the dog, or you go with somebody who can hold the leash while you go inside. And with a nice pup, you are all but requesting that somebody walk up and untie it and take it home.

Why? They’re not usually in the store for very long, couple of minutes. I doubt the dog is really unhappy. Dogs love to be w/ their people and are fine on trips like this, once they’re used to and expect it.

They don’t think they are taking long, but it can be long enough. Its a very easy way to get a free dog, especially an expensive purebred. I see missing dog signs with a story like this every now and then. The sad thing is that its a sob story about how some yuppie lost his heartbroken kid’s dog.

I understand what you’re saying, but taking my dog for walks on my errands was how I first stated getting back in shape. He loves it. You can tell, he gets so excited as soon as I pick up the leash and it’s the only time I use a leash. I don’t know of any dog that doesn’t love being out, even if it means a few minutes tied up, outside a store, several times. A lot of people do it and many of the shop owners keep doggy biscuits to give out. Yes, there is a possibility that something bad could happen, but that’s not really a good reason not to.
