I’m not one to give much credence to myths, but this find really does make you think there might be some truth behind of the stories about “little people” from different cultures.

And these things were supposed to be contemporaries of modern humans in or around at least one island group in Indonesia.I have to wonder who or what made them go the way of the Dodo.

reboot, not unless we find these guys all over the place. So far they are just in one spot.

@fracked again
Technically, I agree with you; right now there is no evidence hard evidence they lived anywhere but Flores.
But consider this: Flores was not connected to the mainland during the last glaciation. Therefore, these guys (or their ancestors) must have arrived there by boat. Which says a huge amount of their level of technological development. One of the bones has been dated to 74,000 BC and some of the tools have been dated to 98,000 BC. That’s about the time that homo sapiens were just starting to leave Africa. Its hard to believe that a sea-faring species with thousands of years of head start on modern humans just sat there on an island.

Yeah, but the island they’re on is full of “pygmy” versions of other animals.

Didn’t they discover this 3 years ago?
