Asshat. Destroying a beautiful piece of machinery like that for a freaking cell phone. The driver should be shaved, sterilized and shunned.

Asshat doesn’t quite cover it:
He said the engine ran for 15 minutes while submerged; why the hell didn’t he simply shut off the ignition? It’s not like he was completely submerged.
Most of the frame is carbon fiber, so it’s likely still useable as a parts car. The motor which may have been salvageable, is screwed by sucking salt water into the engine.

surely anyone that can afford a Million Dollar sports car can afford two of them.

Good god, it reminds me of an old statistic i heard on ViperForum (dodge viper site). About one quarter of all dodge vipers are destroyed on their way home from the dealership due to drivers having no damn clue how to drive their new 500HP street rockets. Seriously if you are going to be buying ANY high horsepower car you should take Driving classes from a racing school like Skip Barber or Bob Bondurant. But as usual people with assloads of money think they can do damn near anything and eschew common sense or logic for expendability. Now this great piece of automotive history is in a fucking salt marsh. Ettore Bugatti must be shitting in his grave.

i dont think the motor had any water in it due to the intake and more is well above the water line. plus the dumb thing is that car comes with blue tooth hands free built in.

The same guy has crashed like 10 supercars.
He’s not a repair mechanic. He’s some 73 year old insurance company exec.
That’s what the great insurance scam has done.
