Arcades are a dying species. *sniffles* Used to be a great place to hang out when I was young. Made lots of friends over a good game of Mortal Kombat. The original.

This is some guy’s basement setup. Bet it costs a pretty penny.

I remember this. The game would randomly spout out very, very heavily garbled voice synth stuff at random intervals when it wasn’t being played. There was one in the grocery store where my mom shopped, near the checkout line, and I remember hearing it continually busting out with:
“NYNSURRRT COINNNN!!!”
“MAYAN DUH GORFIAM EMMPURR!!!”
“BLZZZLWX MFFMMFBLWB!!!”
I remember wondering why it didn’t drive the checkout girls insane.

Jeez…that could almost be the old Silver Coin video arcade that I went to. I loved Defender and Stargate. Plus the old Van’s skate shop was right next door. I could go drool over the tri-color slip-on checkerboards that I wanted to get so bad.

Dude, Zaxxon in the background, I loved that game. Even beat it in the arcade once.
