These were probably disassembled to make low-cost housing for returning GIs.

at least USA smeltered down all the old metal and re-used it
i heard that new zealand made surplus planes in ww2, then when they didnt need them, they just buried them in some out of the way place

Tons of tanks, jeeps and other large equipment were dumped off of ships on their way home after Korea.
