My dad does this professionally, We always love this sort of shit because these are the people who always think the price is too high. “Oh, Well I can do that”.
One time we had some hick cut two trees down with a bow saw, they notched right into each other on a bank so that you couldn’t climb either of them, Both hanging over their house.

I dunno man, that kinda looks like that was there intention. Since in the pictures it doesn’t really look like anyones freaking out. Also look at their surroundings, that way and the reverse seems the only actual way they could cut it down like that(since there are apartment buildings to the left, and foreseeable more houses to their right, but i also assume the main house is behind the camera man). So i think that they cut down the tree so they can build something in place of that old house and at the same time save money by doing it themselves.

Definitely done on purpose – the only way a tree like that would fall the opposite way from the side you were cutting it on is if you cut a wedge out of the opposite side first. If you look at the last 2 pictures you can see this is exactly the case, as the tree has been cut through on the back side as well. If the tree was just cut through from the front and fell, at least one half of the stump would look like splintered wood, from where it broke as it fell.
the wedge proves nothing…they cut the wedge on the correct side (if they were planning on avoiding the house)…you cut the wedge into the side that you want the tree to fall…they just didn’t do a good job cutting the wedge at the right depth…and they should have tied the tree off…and they should have had a climber drop it piece by piece…
but looking at the last pic…they cut the side toward the house first…that’s probably why it fell on the house…
Yeah, that looks to be on purpose.
They are just waaaaaaay to calm about potentially destroying someone’s home. Posing for a camera would not happen.
