I used to think mantises were cute but not since I saw a video on youtube of one eating a bird.

They’re still awesome. Didn’t realize they could go after prey that large, but my understanding is that, like many insects, they are pretty fucking strong.

I kept a mantis as a pet for several months. I loved her – she was great. She would climb all over me, but was deathly afraid of my pitbull-chow. I would feed her the giant spiders I found in the house with a pair of tweezers – occasionally she would grab the tweezers and the pull was amazing.
