I remember watching the guy in the top picture “get his” back in 1967 (?). I was about 17 or 18 at the time. We were sitting around the dinner table watching the news on our little portable TV.
They marched him down the middle of the street and stopped. The guy on the left with the gun just pulled it out and put it to his head, as seen in this picture. We thought he was just going to interrogate him or something but he just pulled the trigger – NOW. When he dropped from getting shot in the head, the blood shot up like a fountain about 2 feet. We all almost lost our supper.
I’m not sure that’s the same guy – It looks shopped to me and, besides – they all look alike to me.

I was young when it happened but it really affected my two older brothers and my parents. I bet that it was the video and the resultant picture (Pulitzer prize winner for that year)that decided them against our involvement in the war.
And yes, the above photo is shooped.
