bought some of this store bought stuff with the party one time, and it was super expensive so i figured theyd at least be caramelized. its a shame when i have to pull out the blowtorch at a party. well, not me. a responsible adult. but i got it out.

Hm, looks like it needed more sugar on top before burning. A neat little trick to get a really nice dark crust without having to stand there torching for ever is to mix a little brown sugar in with your regular granulated before topping it off.

My problem is that I’m a student studying overseas and so I don’t have the funds to buy a blowtorch, so to caramelize it I had to use the oven. turn it up all the way and get the creme brulee as close to the elements as I can, I still tasted pretty good.
