The amount of companies already looking to switch to the new OS is overwhelming. This means that everyone has to upgrade to the new format. When they do with ease and no problems whatsoever, these employees will now think, hey, maybe I need this for my home PC. So then they pick a copy up. With this will come vast improvements, little downside, and one of the most stable operating systems you will ever see. If anyone has been keeping up on the multiple MSFT blogosphere's then you would understand that the they have gone through every effort possible to ensure that you're hardware and software to work properly. But what people have to understand is that with this change, you might have to upgrade your stuff. I mean, sure you can get compatibility mode, but how stupid would it be to run AutoCad2000 on a machine not only in 2009, but running on an OS 3 times later than what it was inteded to? So yeah, you'll have to get Office 2007, you probably won't be able to run all your hacked software, but you will enjoy one of the fastest operating systems, and virtually crash free that has every come out. I think with the strategic price point, and this pre-order deal for half-off, MSFT is making all the right moves. And the continued support by large companies to small customers has interest at an all time high. All you fence sitters will have this installed by Thanksgiving.
