“Universal Pictures has picked up the film rights to the classic Atari video game Asteroids. Matthew Lopez has been brought in to write the script for the film. He has worked on Bedtime Stories, Race to Witch Mountain, and also wrote the most recent draft of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice which is currently in production. Producing the film is Lorenzo di Bonaventura who also produced the Transformers movies.”
