It’s overly simplified, and obviously not made by anyone in the field of psychology*, but it is sure to provoke some reactions.

Fear of ______, is the biggest thing that leads to susceptibility of religion, etc. Fear of no afterlife, fear of being in an uncaring world, fear of not being the center of the universe, and so on. What Nietzsche referred to as, “Staring into the Abyss.”

Some of the world’s most educated men were born into religion, and continue to support it to this day. Now, obviously the dark ages, when religion ruled Europe, technology was sent back several centuries. I’m just stating that while weak critical thinking skills seem like they would make someone more susceptible, it isn’t always true.

That being said, now that we have scientific reasons for things such as lightning and gravity, it’s time to leave these childish things behind.

*The clarification: psychoanalysis is NOT psychology… you all watch too much TV. Cars also don’t explode when shot, and wrestling is fake. I hope your minds didn’t explode.

Mommy what’s coming out of that man’s mouth?

Erm…well son it looks like bullshit but I can see through it. Its like some kind of transparent bullshit.

Hey professor asshat, until science finds a reason for life, a creator of life, and an answer to what happens when people die that can be definitively proven and repeated then religion will always be around and the only thing childish around here is judgmental, pompous, comically uninformed motherfuckers like you.

I don’t give two monkey shits about religion. I don’t even have one of those. What I do care about are the locust like hordes of self appointed answer factories like you who f ag out whenever they get a chance and rhyme off for 20 minutes without ever really saying anything or demonstrating that they’ve even tried to learn more than they picked up in high school.

PS: Thanks for illuminating us philistines about wrestling being fake and cars not exploding. Here’s a brain fuck for you: being full of shit isn’t the same as being smart and educated.

I like how you assume there’s a reason for – and a creator of – life.

Oh no, you don’t come off as a total jerkwad. Not at all.

Hey look at the pretentious twit without anything real to say backing up the pretentious twit who opined so eloquently and said nothing.

My dick. Suck it raw prease.

Religious people respond to reason as much as science focused people respond to hope.

Both have their merits. I personally have never heard of a junkie coming back from the edge because he found science.

Don’t worry about Blondie/Maggie. He gets pissed when people have opinions that he can’t immediately understand, or if they contradict his prejudices.

ya cause there was even a point in there to comprehend…?

I made a point out of his nothing. My point is people who regurgitate grade 10 level logic analysis as though they’re PHD wielding authorities on anything are annoying. That annoyed you. 3 guesses as to why.

            :|

            lol

            a) illogical analysis? You’re a retard
            b) theology authority? Point to where in my post I even skimmed near anything close to that.

The bullshitter who bullshitted to back his fellow bullshitter is full of shit and his bullshit he’s using to try and back his other bullshit is in fact just bullshit and the only person who doesn’t see his bullshit as bullshit is he himself the bullshitter.

I like how you still haven’t responded to my second comment to your first post.
Besides, what is “hope” other than a human emotion? And emotions are nothing but electrochemical process patterns either determined by evolution or our immediate environment.

Other than that, the rest of your original post is just hate-filled gibberish.
“Waaa! Waaaa! Someone is wrong(imo) on the internet! Waaa!”

What response were you expecting to that other than the one I gave that pulled it apart and showed how you’re a dumbshit?

Fantastic sidewalk definition of emotion btw. I bet your band is awesome. lol

Go back to school so you don’t come off like such a twat.

You have succeeded in making yourself look like a complete fucking idiot over and over.

Vrik, you are using words that are far too long for maggie.

Poor guy, he doesn’t understand that his attempted smartassery is just a tangle of nerves, shuttling electrons about, wishing that they hadn’t been stuck with that pesky extra chromosome…

Besides, it’s not like religious people give a shit about all the things already proven and repeated ad nauseam.

          Hi mAgnUS BUTTfersoon/Blondie.

I love you too, but I think we should start seeing other people. You’re too clingy, and overly emotional. It’s not healthy for either of us.

We all have a fear of the unknown and are largely ignorant of the world around us. While these things certainly contribute to how susceptible we are to accepting false claims it is misleading to draw a line and runs the risk of contributing to the generally unnecessary and counterproductive Us v. Them mentality.

As for poor critical thinking skills, I completely agree. People need to learn them early and use them much more often.

I’d like to remind folks that atheism is a religion. Now fit that into the chart. :)

    8. Vote -1 Vote +1greytone (UID#1667)

Atheism is the lack of belief in a god or gods.

In my opinion this does not make a religion.

It is certainly a religious classification. There are indeed groups of atheists who have come together to form organizations. Most commonly just to have a community or for political input.

There is no doctrine, dogma, or agenda that defines atheism. There may be philosophies popular among atheists, such as materialism, naturalism, or humanism. But in and of itself it is simply an answer to a single question. “Do you believe in a god?”

In my opinion this does not make a religion.

If people choose to label it as a religion I’m not sure how much difference it would make. It is what it is.
