I was a liaison to the Russians in Bosnia back in the mid-90s. The female Russian soldiers DID wear makeup. They also wore jewelry (big frikkin hoop earings, SO 70s!) and–now get this–high heels…in camo uniforms. US female soldiers can wear makeup but no earrings and must be wearing boots when in BDUs.

The very foxy lady is NOT in the Russian military.
She is a professional model, presenting one of several PROPOSED uniforms for female officers of
the Russian army. The event was a press conference.
The uniform was NOT adopted. The pic is about two years old, and can be found on www.militaryphotos.net/forums/
