The Ultimates Nick Fury is actually based on SLJ. Someone even tells Nick at one point in the comics that he looks like SLJ.
There’s a good reason for that. Ultimate Nick was intentionally drawn to look like SLJ.

why do they keep turning white characters into black ones in movies? i mean, i’m not racist but i guess no one would like to see a white vampire hunter blade…
Probably because there are so *few* black comic book heroes, that a few changes here and there make a discernible difference.
