Even though I have not played in years, I was in during the early beta testing, and played until 2006-2007. Made a lot of great friends, and have a lot of great memories. I am kinda sad to see it go offline for good…

I too played in the beta, the world was too green for my tastes, and the gameplay was repetitive

Can’t say I’m surprised in the slightest.
If I was playing an FPS and shooting someone, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to keep playing if the other guy could just move around the bullets. I’m surprised it even lasted more then a month.
There is a pretty cool map for CS:S called the matrix something.

This was being Beta’ed the same time as WoW. I remember being excited to try it but it had so many problems trying to get connected. I downloaded the WoW beta while waiting for them to fix the problems.. and never looked back. I hadn’t heard anything about the game in years.. I’m surprised it’s lasted this long.
Matrix The Game = Overkill.
I played in the beta testing but hated the combat system. The pick your moves 3-steps ahead was horrific for combat strategy. I never heard if it had been changed so I never went back.
