Built in Russia during the 1930s, it flew 11 times before crashing and killing 15 people.
The designer, Konstantin Kalinin, wanted to build two more planes but the project was scrapped.
Later, Stalin had Kalinin executed.

    This thing *was* designed to carry two small fighters which could be launched as escorts, but I call bullshit on the battleship turrets.

    The link sauces pic #3 & 4, which I buy. The others are some steampunk fantasy of a sky-battleship (not a bad one, mind you, but about as feasible as the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.)

    I want this rebuilt, with a nuclear powered engine, so that I could live in it, forever soaring above the clouds.

    Just looking a the images you can easily notice the lack of cannons and the “secondary”(?) propellers on top of the wing.

    Fun Fact: Did not actually fly. Was so ugly the Earth repelled it.

    (I know I stole that from the helicopter motivational. Look up there^ and tell me I’m wrong.)

    I first saw this on EnglishRussia.com. There are a couple of genuine photos on there showing the sheer size of these things, but yes, the majority of the above are shops.
