it’s called a Tanuki. It’s a japanese raccoon-dog, they show up in Japanese folklore a lot, Miyazaki even made a film earlier in his career about them. BTW, hi MCS. I’ve been a long time loiterer, finally got around to registering.

Tanuki, japanese badger trickster guy, sort of like Coyote in Native American lore.
Supposedly has a giant scrotum and uses it to play tricks on travelers!
T. Robbins did a book with it as a character.

It’s a poor stuffed tanuki. They use their balls to meteor into people from the air, among other things. Also shapeshifters.

but yes, possessing a large scrotum is an opportunity for many possible pranks. According to Japanese folklore anyway.
As for the Japanese, as it has been oft-stated here, either we have nuked them far too much, or not nearly enough.
