It allows for high revs without valve bounce as the valve is not only pushed open but also pulled shut. If you use standard spring valves then you get valve bounce. And considering Detomaso himself had a bad experience with them while racing i doubt he would put them in a production vehicle. Even today the only company that really uses desmos is Ducati. And even then it is an outdated design with an outdated purpose.
