One of these guys hangs out in a field by my house; I see him on the way to work some mornings. I’ve taken to calling him Fred.
I have heard that they can put their beaks through a 2×4, so I keep a healthy distance from Fred. but he’s a beautiful bird and it always makes my day brighter to see him.

These things are pretty awesome. There’s a nesting spot not too terribly far from where we live, pretty cool just to watch them. They’re huge, and sound almost like pterodactyls or some thing…

I will tell you again that when one of these things cuts loose, the droppings will entirely cover the windshield of a 1980′s full-sized pickup truck
