    1. I can’t believe this is a real term. I first heard this in my IT class, freaking weird.

    2. @frogurtx:
You’ve seriously never heard of ‘wardriving’ before?

Let me introduce you to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WarGames

    3. I’ve never heard of it either – it sounds violent to me! Hopefully people don’t resort to that.

    4. I believe it was originated in the term “WarDialing” which is where people would set up phones to dial a series of numbers like mad to try to get access to a modem-connected computer system.

    5. Not to be confused with an activity I lovingly call Battle-Driving; where you and each of your miscreant friends go out and buy a throw-away car worth no more than $500 (USE A FAKE NAME), put $20 of gas in it (PAY WITH CASH and wear a simple disguise), and then:

Race belligerently across town to a designated Point B. No license or plates/registration is allowed to be carried (but fake ones are permitted). Points are scored for doing damage to other peoples cars and/or forcing them off the road; but the rule of thumb (heh) is to (try to) avoid damaging non-racers cars except for luxury vehicles or actual street-racers/ricers, those are fair game (and worth extra points).

Carmaggedon was indeed the inspiration, but it is better (in the long run at least) not to hit pedestrians. But I can’t say for sure, because none of us have hit any pedestrians yet in the two races we have held. I dare to presume though.

It’s a good idea to be in great cardio-vascular shape and wearing running shoes and lightweight nondescript clothing.

It’s also a good idea to have a pre-established story to explain why you were doing this in case you “lose”. Example: “Oh god officer, oh god, I was so scared… I got this mysterious phone call that told me there was a car waiting for me outside. I looked outside and shit, there was a car i had never seen before. The voice then told me the keys were in it and that I had 15 minutes to get to (made up address on the other side of city) or they would kill my family! Oh god it was horrible! I thought this sort of shit only happened in movies!

Obviously you have to be willing to break some trivial laws and not be afraid of the police to play this game.

It is also recommended you have a friend on quick dial that is tailing along (legally) that can pick you up quickly after you win. Or bail.

Obviously you might want to wear such as a helmet.

Betting and money prizes are optional.

Next time we race we are going to try and set up ghost cars along the (general) route with cameras and radios / cell phones (hands free of course) so we can catch the action and issue alerts about the fuzz.
