Yes, because slightly overweight middle-aged men in grey tights are terrifying. Dear god, who painted eyebrows on that mask.

For all those latch key kids out there that watched the original batman on tv reruns during the day, adam west is the only batman. After watching all those episodes i just cannot take Batman seriously. I will always associate Batman with the ridicilous camp show.

What was done right? Batman shitting his tights?
@Teutonic Logic: Don’t speak for all of us. I watched that shit, but Christian Bale is totally my Batman.

@dekay46
well yeah bale is badass, but for me its like trying to reinvent the Naked Gun series as a badass action series.

Then again, there’s always the original Batman that came some 20+ years before Adam West and carried a gun.
Oh, right. It’s not ‘real’ unless it’s on TV.

@ Paul is Drunk
I never said previous incarnations werent real, its just that the tv show was the first medium of the batman franchise I experianced and it therefor had the greatest impact on me on what direction the show was going and how it was going to get there.

The HELL it was!
Seriously. At least George Clooney looked somewhat threatening in the bat-suit. Adam West was as threatening as a six-year-old’s Halloween party. I call him Fatman for a reason.

Adam West & Michael Keaton for me.
West is pure retro goodness, and as cheesy as it is, it’s enjoyable. Reminds you of kinder, simpler times.
The only reason I’ve liked the recent Batman movies are the storylines, but I hate the Batmobile (Tumbler), the suit, the turtle-face damsel in distress and the fact Batman’s theme by Danny Elfman isn’t anywhere!
Nolan knows how to “tell” Batman, but Tim Burton is the one that knows how to “show” him IMHO.

Adam West is from my hometown, Walla Walla, Washington, he is a hilarious individual and his take on the Batman was ingenious. Although I love the newer incarnations of Batman I would love to see some throwback super hero movies. They are just so pun-tastic. “Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed!”

@saborlas: But that wasn’t the point! Bale’s Batman’s Badass and just right for this generation, but West’s prodded buttock wearing tights, and everyone knows badass don’t work wearing tights.
@Dreth: agreed. Retro goodness and cheesy works for me!
