That’s an inflatable life raft, not a ramp. Life rafts are usually stowed inside the cabins, while the ramps stay at the doors base.
As a life support equipment instructor, I always tell people that something like that could happen if you don’t handle the rafts carefully.
If you have no objection, I’ll be using this great image in my classes.

@...dhg4983: Typical American airline fail.

Every other airline I’ve ever flown on has had good service, amazing food (never understood why this is so hard for us), and quality equipment. Even Indian Air was 2x better than any comparable American airline. What is it about us that we can’t get this right as a nation?

The people who maintain the aircraft, the monitored supply system for its critical parts, the experience and training of the people who fly them. I think “native English speaking” is a better guide than how much one would like to do the regionally-clad, you’ve got no hope whatsoever, exotic biscuit slingers in the cabin.

@Paul: Seriously! I had a wonderful flight not too long ago on Air Vietnam between Vientiane and Hanoi…good service, great food. The only odd thing is the flight attendant handed out packs of cigarettes to everyone just after take-off!

It’s called we live in a capitalistic society where the rich don’t give a fuck about the common worker. They would rather be extremely cheap about it instead of spend the extra $10. Why do you think we have so much foreign outsourcing?
Why pay an American worker the minimum wage when you can pay someone in or from another country for half or less. All the big companies use china to output EVERYTHING. It’s just the way these bastards think. They don’t care all they want is more money. I find it absurd as to wAlso, am I the only one noticing the unusual shape of the ceiling of the aircraft? It’s as if the ceiling was being pressed inward due to outside forces. As if the plane was being crushed from above.
