@burritos: Deadpool was originally a knock off of DC’s bad ass villain Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, done by Rob Liefeld.

However, it was with Fabian Nicieza’s writing that he became the sarcastic killing machine we all know and love today.

Except then Fox decided to make him into some kind of “all in one” mutant for the Wolverine movie, and even with several confirmations that it’s really Deadpool, some people hate the new design so much they are ignoring reality by plugging their ears and hoping it will go away.

I’m just hoping that the reshoots of Deadpool scenes not long ago was a reworking of the ending to create him into the version we all know and love.

I thought Deadpool was the red assassin guy Liefeld dreamed up in X-Farce or whatever hell of an abortion he delivered that was previously the New Mutants.

Wikipedia mentions a mutant called Weapon XI which “has powers pulled from many of the mutants featured in the film including Wolverine’s healing factor and Cyclops’ optic blasts, and is in the end sequence fight scene against Wolverine.” I can still hope that Deadpool isn’t that dude we saw in the post a bit back with the lasers.
