His is the mind that concieved it, and even if he's less skilled at rendering it on paper than he is in print, his version is closer to the original intent than anyone else. So many other attempts always bring the aesthetic baggage of the artist, which tends to warp the original mindset; most Cthulhu paintings & drawings either try to make him look either 'realistic' or 'cool', without taking into account that the sight of this thing was supposed to literally drive you insane.
