  1. Still, it is amazing to at least see what lovecraft saw.

  2. It’s not a terrible drawing. Better than anything I’ve ever drawn. Nothing on some of the artists he inspired, but I’m not going to slam it. And yes, it is amazing to see what he saw.

Also, can anybody read the handwriting? I can’t make it out.

  3. Well, it’s good to see that even Cthulhu got constipated once in a while too. :D

  4. A smaller Cthulhu. A friendlier Cthulhu. A Cthulhu for the people…

    NOT!

  5. ” To R.H. Barlow, Esq., whose sculpture hath given immortality to this trivial ? of his oblig’d of all servants.
    Cthulhu
    H.P. Lovecraft
    11 May, 1934″

That’s what I’m making out. Could be wrong.

  6. Cheer up, little emo Cthulhu!

Oh, of course. His is the mind that concieved it, and even if he’s less skilled at rendering it on paper than he is in print, his version is closer to the original intent than anyone else. So many other attempts always bring the aesthetic baggage of the artist, which tends to warp the original mindset; most Cthulhu paintings & drawings either try to make him look either ‘realistic’ or ‘cool’, without taking into account that the sight of this thing was supposed to literally drive you insane.

I love that Lovecraft gave him multiple spider-eyes :)
