Looks like someone needs to invest five bucks in zip ties
March 4, 2009 at 10:26 pm

Two things,
1. stevedave is clearly not affiliated with the IT industry. He only sees wires… I see toys…
2. Please tell me that this is only temporary and that it’s going into a room with a bunch of greasy nerds playing Halo at a LAN party… otherwise, I’m with Nimbo. Five bucks guys. Srsly.

Ready to be really horrified? That’s what the wiring at your hospital looks like. Check it. One of the leads says “Bed E”. If I had to guess, this is the patch panel for a medical imaging department, where they do MRIs or CAT Scans.

Bah! That’s not a lot of wires – I got more wires coming out of the back of my SEGA Genesis/CD/32X!

@aarpie:
halo lan parties generally involve some kind of single hub that isn’t hardwired into the wall. I’ve been there, it’s awesome/scary

Whoever ran the cable plant needs to be fired.
That is all.

Notice in the bottom left corner zip ties all ready to manage this mess. This is probably the before photo, showing how it was installed prior to cable routing.
Now immagine that, x 10,000, and streatched across several buildings. Then you know true infrastructure.

Yeah… Infrastructure is a royal pain…

Home theater system. Whole house audio distribution, in zones. Aaaaand I don’t see any HDMI. Guess they’re in for a surprise in about…. -6 months.
March 5, 2009 at 2:02 am
@storminator: your not kidding, i wish half the rigs i worked with looked this clean
March 5, 2009 at 2:03 am
@MadScientist: Home theater systems don’t have beds.
March 5, 2009 at 2:03 am
@cm3ars: and were actually labeled like this is
March 5, 2009 at 2:04 am
@the_wanderer: they do if you have a flat screen above your bed… but they usually dont have cameras
March 5, 2009 at 2:45 am
@MadScientist: I believe you are correct sir. I’m going to wire my house future house even more than this one is. 2 Gigabit ports in every room, server room downstairs with climate control and UPS backups, surround sound speakers in every room manageable by room and by speakers.
March 5, 2009 at 9:05 pm
That is NOT a lot of wires.
