This was in one of those viral emails about “dangerous roads of the world” and none of the death stats for those roads were as high (not even close) as Highway 17 which goes between San Jose and Santa Cruz here in California.

Ha! That road’s not even CLOSE to being a “road of death”. It’s well carved from solid rock, is nice and wide, the cliff isn’t THAT high, and it even has a curb in most places. Sheesh! Not very deadly. You want deadly, try some of the roads in the Colorado Rockies – they have sections washed away by last night’s storm, no curbs/rails, have cliffs a minimum of three times the one in the photos above, and often are only ONE LANE wide (and you’re bound to meet some jackass towing a trailer wider than the road… going the other way).
