@Adrian: to answer your second question, I’d say yes. Would probably go along the lines of “Aw, Lighten up pointdexter!”.

The thing is, I do not believe humor should be subject to censorship. It’s humor. But what is really irritating is that people laugh at other people all the time.

If people really, honestly believed that laughing at something that someone else might find offensive is bad, they would be outraged at almost everything.

But I doubt that either you nor General X has *never* laughed at anothers expense. Be honest with yourself and be fair about it. If you are going to laugh at people, laugh at everyone, including yourself…

@General X: respect man. A viewpoint well presented.

It’s not about “Muslims should just poke fun at Christianity and get over it”, it runs probably somewhere along the lines of “thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not poke fun at the prophet”. I bet Christianity was not so far away from similar views.

I wonder, if the majority of this community expressed a negative opinion about the above picture (purely hypothetically speaking), would they still get all that ribbing, mickey taking, fun poking, that is going on in here just for expressing said opinion?

@General X: You are entitled to say whatever you please, but we are entitled to post whatever we want. I thought this pic was funny, which is why I submitted it. I also thought several pics that portrayed Jesus in a silly way were funny, so I submitted them too....and I'm Catholic, but I still find humor in my religion. Lighten up.

To Silverwolf: I can avert my eyes but that still does not mean I should remain silent.
To HoChunk: You are perfectly within your right to say whatever the heck you want. You might, if you can afford it, take out a giant billboard on every corner on every street in the world and put that same exact sentence on it. But just because you can does not always mean you should. Aristotle said that Man is a social animal. No man in an island. And to have so little regard for the opinions and feelings of your fellow Man is both selfish and disingenuous. Though religion is obviously not important to you, look within yourself and find something that really matters in your life. Ask yourself if someone were to put it down and drag it through the mud just because they could, look deep within yourself truthfully if it would leave you ambivalent and even hearted. If it would, well, that is no life I would want to live.

Let me take this opportunity to excercise my right to say Allah, Jesus, Buddha et al can go eat dicks.

So we should have the freedom to make fun of what we want, but not religion because then it’s not funny? That’s your interpretation. Do you see the conflict?
