Yeah KISS are has-beens and were really never that talented as musicans. But that is missing the point, these guys were and are about getting copious amounts of split-tail and generally liveing decandent -sex fueled life. And I would say they were successful.

Besides, without the Kiss branch on the rock-n-roll tree we wouldn’t have Slipknot, Marilyn Manson or ICP.
They also look better than a lot of pictures I’ve seen from the 70′s…

I dont know if you can really safely say that. I am not a kiss fan, they are not talented at all, but they influenced a lot of people and they are one link in the chain. If they werent there the branch could have gone in different directions. But even though I dont think you can take KISS out of the equation you can still hate them even though you love their offsping. I hate, I mean really hate Husker Du, but they spawned the pixies who I love so much.

Not talented? Depends on how you measure talent. Is it by their technical ability? Then your sort of right (Ace Frehley had some rippin solos)
I would measure talent by how good the songs are, not how technical or difficult to play they are. And I happen to love KISS’s music. Obviously they are money grabbing whatnots, but damn they have some nice songs and put on one hell of a show!
