I take it this is a college football team.
Another thing I don’t understand about american sport and fan culture. I mean aren’t they students? Going to school? What is there to cheer about?
I can understand if you attend the college in question and it’s fun to see guys you know compete at something on a national level but that is pretty much it. School sports in my country and I’m guessing most of Europe is as about a big deal as taking a shit.

@zipfer: There is plenty to cheer about: partying, sex, drugs, rock&Roll and homework.
From what I have seen sports are a big deal in any country, especially Europe. Although I doubt Football/Rugby Hooligans are college educated or at least a good amount of them are not.
A good amount of people in America do go to College to get educated too but they can have fun too.
