I would have aimed for her head and noticed her cute little bum, then they both would have shot me

I will admit I haven’t seen Appleseed in a long time, but I don’t remember them being lovers…

I think there was a newer one recently. That might have played up the romantic tension between Deunan and Bulieros.

Of course they were lovers! Super sweet. And romantic. And sad.
Let me go throw up a violin now.
Also, 150 points to everyone for knowing about these movies.

They were totally lovers. The movie is a compression of 3 arcs of manga where they had the time to go into it. If you watch the movie ago and you look for the subtext is there

That’s not fair! I want to have my organic squishy body replaced with sleek metal too! Stupid modern technology.

@LostOne: I’m with Switchbreak in this, Deunan and Briareos *totally* had a thing going. It is less appparent in the animes, especially in the first one (there are actually two anime versions of the manga) however in the second, CG laden version, even though it is not explicitly covered, it is very clear that they were involved, though Briareos appears to be reluctant to revisit it later on because of his cybernetic body…
I loved both of these movies. In fact I was actually pleasantly surprised by the second one, thought it would be all CG heavy junk, but it turned out quite beautifully…
@dieAntagonista:
Somehow, I don’t think Briareos would have appreciated the violin…
@Silverwolf: Indeed, I’ve always loved the idea… Briareos cybernetics were rather clunky, but could do a whole lot more than those used in GITS… But I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be a cyborg…
