And when Beast Wars came out, what did people say?

“OMG Dat sux!! Optimus is a truck not a monkey!!”

And it turned out to be one of the most memorable TF series to date. Complete with nods to the original show out the wazoo and a decent degree of depth to the cast.

Just saying. The newer show isn’t the horrible garbage people paint it as. Its not as good as BeastWars but hell they’re at least trying rather than repackaging another Jap show thats godawful.

Beast Wars rocked socks. Earlier Transformers cartoons were the originals and thus beyond reproach. This is just ADHD targeting crap with a sprinkle of bad japanimation for good measure.

There have been a series of CG Transformers, the better one being Beast Wars and the shittier one being that godawful one that took place on Cybertron. I think they were trying to advertise a return to happier days.

Beast Wars was teh shit though. I remember when they found the original Optimus Prime’s ship, the Ark, and Primal Optimus made a comment about how this ancient “die-cast technology” was lost to the ages–referencing the original die-cast metal transformer toys. Zing!

While it’s true the toys came first, both Transformers and GI Joe were good cartoons. If they weren’t I’m sure we would have found something better to watch. Look at how many toy/cartoon things came out in that period, and how many actually survived. The Thundercats knock offs alone are in the dozens.

dude- the “awesome” original show was a multi-year long commercial.
A bad one, since the toys couldn’t do 90% of what they advertised (and an excellent one, since an entire generation gets butthurt over alterations)
the new show isn’t the same as the old one. it is tailored to people who are specifically NOT YOU.
The new toys are pretty awesome for today’s kids.
If you want to bitch over childhood cartoon raping, complain about the severe infractions perpetrated by the newer x-men series (in both plots and art) and the star wars cartoon network abomination.
