    9. That map is biased in that it leads the observer to believe the green is the ONLY land that Palestine has had. This is incorrect. If you look at a map of the British mandate of Palestine from 1920, you’ll see a completely different story:

    11. @wookie_x: No, not really. Jordan was never the same as Palestine even though they were both lumped together in the British mandate. There is a world of difference between the term “Palestinian land”, which Jordan never was, and “Palestine”, which has had various meanings.

    12. Genesis 16

1Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

2And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

3And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

4And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

5And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.

6But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thine hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.

7And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.

8And he said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.

9And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

10And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.

11And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

12And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

    13. @JamesTuskGeorge: What defines “Palestinian land” other than political boundaries? Next your probably going to say that its land that Palestinians live on. But what’s a Palestinian? Someone who lives on Palestinian land? Can you define any of these terms without resorting to circular reasoning? I’d honestly like to see you try.

      Reply

    14. @JamesTuskGeorge: And talk about fucking straw man arguement. You just described the creation of the United States. The natives did find back, they lost, they were put on reservations. If Israel doesn’t have a right to fight back, then you United States doesn’t have a right to exist either. Neither does any other modern country.

    17. It seems to be popular these days to say that Israel is committing atrocities, poor Palestinians etc… but they both lived together in the same land once upon a time, and they are both equally to blame. Yes Israel has killed a shitload of people within these past weeks, so everyone hops on the bandwagon, angry as fuck about the stuff they saw on the news.

However, almost no Americans were made aware of the constant barrage of Hamas attacks on Israel that lead up to them getting all riled up.

If you’re going to get angry, dont get mad at the Israelis unless you are going to be equally mad at the Palestinians. Both sides are responsible. I read that most Israelis and Palestinians are in favor of sharing the land… but would just like the fighting to stop.

Blame the governments on both camps. Don’t be fooled into taking a side.

The radiactive gases would plume out over most of the mediteranian, and the resulting fallout from larger fission products would make the same area uninhabitable. Cs-137 is water soluable and would effect everything you eat and drink. In other words, we’d be fucking ourselves. Maybe suggest something that would be less catostrophic to the rest of the world?

    24. @vygramul: That map is 3,000 years old and famously exaggerated, and notice the Phillistine land, with Gaza as the capital, there on the left? The problem is concentrating all the Palestinians on the 1946 map above into a handful of large camps, walling them off, and denying them the ability to purchase basic necessities like food because you don’t like the results of their last democratic election. You treat people like animals long enough you shouldn’t whine when they bite you.

    25. @conan776: And you honestly believe that is what is happening right now? I take it you also think the holocaust was faked and the moon landing was really a propaganda film? And what does “it’s the blockade stupid” have to do with what is going on here? I am assuming you are talking about the gaza strip and how israel removed the blockade on it and almost immediately after doing so HAMAS FIRED FUCKING MISSILES INTO CIVILLIAN HOUSINGS. Instead of making israel just look like assholes or being the bigger man they instead chose to destroy innocent civilians. Civilians who were probably Palestinian and jewish at that. So that was your rebuttal to camiam right? Israel are assholes because they decided to comply diplomatically and as soon as they did they get missiles shot into the civilian populace? Yeah…palestine is really innocent there, those damn israelis getting angry for being shelled.

    26. @conan776: Also this last democratic election you speak of put a known anti-israeli terrorist group into power, an enemy that now has larger access to more powerful armaments. Yeah…imagine that a country getting upset when it’s neighbors elect a known enemy. Wow man you should write a book. You are a regular Adam Smith. I guess it would be OK if russia were to elect osama bin laden too. Or if china were to elect Hugo Chavez. That would be totally cool right?

    27. @thelotuseater725: LOL at the idea Israel ever removed the blockade. Their failure to do so is why the ceasefire ended. Read a newspaper sometime, K? And besides, the Israeli response to lawlessness in Gaza is to go in and blow up all the police stations every five years. Durr…. Didn’t work last time, but don’t let that stop you Israel. The beatings will continue until moral improves!

    28. If the arab nations never attacked Isreal in the first place Isreal never would have taken the land. It all was a result of arab nations that wanted to remove all of the jews from the middle east, however with us support not only did they push back the arab nations they also ended up taking a bunch of their land because, hell, wouldn’t you?

      Reply

    29. @sansbutt: That was never the Arab League’s motivation. In 1948 they wanted to stop the civil war and stop the ongoing refugee crisis. The Six Day War in 1967 was fought mostly over water issues.

@thelotuseater725: thank you. that is exactly what i was thinking. Israel, after winning several fights that Palestine started, gave back the land they had won on those occasions. It isn’t until recently that they said enough is enough.

I’m not siding with Israel, I’m just saying that they are reacting exactly how Hamas WANTED them to react after being provoked.

    31. @Howie Feltersnatch: Seriously? Your hatred for them outweighs the biological side effects of this shit? I spend day in and say out at a power plant to make sure this shit doesn’t end up in the Mississippi, and you would have the nuclear nations anahilate the place spreading this shit through the atmosphere? Old documents from this plant show that Chernobyl effected our environmental radiation monitoring program. That was a lot smaller than an atmospheric nuclear detonation. There is a reason above ground tests have stopped. I used to say “fuck it, nuke them.” as a joke. Once this stuff is ingested it stays with you, in your skin, muscle tissue, and even bone marrow. It can lead to increasing cancer rates very quickly.
I understand its a desert and these people have been fighting them for years, but nuking anyone, no matter how fun it was in starcraft, is really not an option if you want the earth to remain inhabitable.

    33. Palestinian Loss of Land? It occurred in 1948 – they would’ve had their own country, but Israel’s existence came with the deal. Arabs said no deal, declared war on a newborn nation of mebbe 3 million and LOST. Arafat was offered a Palestinian state, turned it down to blatantly violate the Clinton-brokered peace. So the backstabbing, truce-breaking, civilian-targeting mass murderers don’t have a nation? Fuck ’em.

      Reply

    34. @DCR: Eh i agree with you to an extent there. Factually speaking you are correct. When israel was first formed the palestinians were given the option to become citizens of israel but most of them refused. That is why a huge portion of these people became refugess and ended up losing their homes. But that wasn’t the end of it. When the palestines went to the neighboring countries of egypt, syria, lebanon and jordan they were refused refuge as well. The Palestinians more or less brought their plight on themselves and it is more than apparent that their so called “brothers” don’t give a shit about them either.

@conan776: read a newspaper? That’s funny because my father is an adviser for the israeli government. Also i read the BBC’s webpage every morning. oh yeah one other thing, one of my best friends is a hardcore muslim and his family happens to have some heavy ties in israel. So yeah, i see these conflicts from pretty much every side. I don’t go into these arguments with the purpose of making palestine look bad or israel look bad.

      Reply

    35. @conan776: Saying ’67 was mostly fought over water issues is like saying the Warsaw Ghetto uprising was mostly over insecticide issues. The only reason water was an issue is because the Syrians didn’t want Israel to have any, not because they were in any particular need of more.

    36. What anti-zionists either don’t get, or worse, embrace is the fact that their version of “pro-Palestinian” is basically supporting the ethnic cleansing of the inhabitants of Israel. They aren’t for universal human rights, just Palestinian supremacy. And they spend the whole time bitching about how the zionists are imperial racists (which despite what you may think has only partial truth in it.) I saw a guy at a protest once holding a poster that read “Gay Muslims for peace and the destruction of Israel.” There are several levels of irony to this. For one thing, there’s only one place a gay muslim, or gay anybody can live without fear of persecution, and that is Israel. For another thing, Israeli arabs have more civil rights than do Muslims anywhere in the Muslim world. Also the poster reveals that to its author, “peace” means the success of his own brand of ethnic imperialism. The anti-zionist movement is anti-semitic. If it isn’t, why would the Left support Islamofascists who daily talk about exterminating the Jews, not just Israelis. If it weren’t, anti-zionist Muslims and gentiles wouldn’t be persecuting Jews of every political stripe in Europe right now. There would be no fire-bombings of synagogues in the name of Allah. The BBC would report on good news from Israel, not just the bad. Everything people accuse Israel of, the Muslim world is guilty of plotting, trying to achieve, and talking about daily in their media. Israel wants to exist. Period. The Palestinians want to ethnically cleanse the place. It is illegal to be non-muslim in Palestine. What would replace Israel? Another dictatorship. Say what you want about Israel but I have this to say: I bet you like your Pentium chip, cell phone, medical discoveries, generic medicine, mechanical alternative to SCUBA, anti-desertification technology, and nano-tech, to mention a few things. And that shouldn’t even matter because where people choose to live isn’t a meritocracy here or anywhere else in the world. If it were, why not kick out American minorities because they supposedly have a high crime rate and a few more specifically participate in drug trafficking? You can’t complain about the Jews having settled in the Israel/Palestine region and not bitch about any other group who decided to immigrate to any other part of the globe.

If you are pro-Hamas and Fatah, then you don’t mind that they are genocidal madmen who, on the side, happen to steal all the aid money, of which the average Pal never see a penny. You also wouldn’t mind that they poison the mind of their youth and turn them into a big suicide cult. And if you support or make excuses for that, then I am more pro-Palestinian than you are.
