    How timely! I just finished watching An Inconvenient Truth because I’d never seen it before. Certainly puts my current energy-efficient home renovations in perspective. Although I’m afraid my driving an SUV around cancels out my home’s carbon reduction. 🙁

    I started reading the list, but paused when I got to “Error 3” because it refers to 2006 paper, but doesn’t say what paper or how the study was done.
    So I did a little bit of searching on my own. The Science & Public Policy Institute is just one guy who collects a paycheck from Exxon.

    Al Gore’s movies has some weak science, but let’s keep some skepticism for both sides.

    A little more follow up,
    I was checking on the 2nd most popular article on the SPPI page
    scienceandpublicpolicy.org/press/proved_no_climate_crisis.html
    which refers to a peer-reviewed paper in Physics and Society.
    Problem is Physics and Society does not do peer-reviewed articles.

    Maybe there’s some other technicality that I’m missing, but it seems to be at least misleading.

    Interesting find. Just so you all know i’m not saying global warming isn’t real. I’m skeptical on both sides of the argument (it just so happens the awareness/ “it is happening” arguments come up more) and I just don’t like this whole alarmist bullshit. Idt’s just kind of ridiculous that the “global warming” movement has about half the media buying into this shit when in reality there is still very harsh and relevent debate going on. And as you have demonstrated and as mr gore have demonstrated the motives of researchers is questionable. Not only that but there is no doubt that bunk science is being produced on either side. Is global warming happening? Probably, we are still coming out of the most recent ice age so of course the earth is warming. Is it man made? The verdict is still out there is still much debate,we may not have a solid answer for a while. And given how much politicians like to use the whole global warming scare to their benefit and how much companies who are “blamed” for “causing global warming” like to fund rebuttal studies, well, we might not have a solid truthful answer for a long time.

    Plus if i have to see one more fucking sticker for raising “global warming awareness” i am going to spin kick everyone in sight. The money going into making those fucking stickers,t-shirts,concerts and events would be better spent on fixing or studying the problem.

    World population is at record amounts and growing. We are the only creature on earth that shuffles the earth around for our own benafit in vast amounts to further our own needs, pollute and effect vast numbers of other creatures on earth, that we also happen to depend on.

    There have been numerous examples of illness because of living in our own filth and will only get worse, if we don’t start changing. Living as if we do not effect anything is more than ignorance, it’s self destructive as a species.

    We can keep sending rockets into space but we will never find another earth and this one is a pigsty. Believing we haze ZERO effect on earth happenings is fucking stupid. Wether you believe in global warming on not, we are effecting things at some level. There are less big fish in the ocean then there were 50 years ago. Fish prices arn’t going up just because of inflation.

    It’s always wonderful to surf in lifeless seas and in sewage.Being unaware of the problem is part of the problem.

    Puulaahi I think that the planet itself is one big entity of its own. Like our own bodies, when we get sick, the body responds in kind. Same with the earth. Now I’m not really making a point. I’m just floating a few ideas around. Maybe the fish that are disappearing are supposed to. Maybe it’s the planet trying to correct some inballance. Species have been going extinct forever. Literally. Same thing with the worlds climate cycles. It cycles from a tropic age to an ice age. All of this carbon, you people seem to think we are creating, came from the last tropical age. Remember, we can’t create matter, so all this carbon had to be gathered by all those plants which we now extract and recycle back into carbon. It’s real vane to think we, an insignificant temporary leasee of this planet, have more than the most minute effect. The world will survive humans. It’s humans that won’t survive the earth.

    the3g_ipwn: Sure this carbon has always been there, but I’d guess that during the last tropical period it was in biological organisms, not in CO2 form. Don’t forget that we’re taking carbon that was buried in the earth, burning it, and releasing it into the atmosphere. That said, I’ve never understood the argument about species going extinct being a bad thing. Last semester my anthropology teacher said something like 99.9% of all species are extinct. It’s a natural part of life. If you can’t adapt, you die.
