  1. I just recently watched something about these guys…Oh yeah, it was on a show called Evolve!, Episode: Shapes. It was pretty cool.

  5. @pancake2B: That particular flounder happens to have poisonous spines protruding from it’s head.

  6. This mimic travels through areas where there is no cover, so normal octopus camouflage won’t work.. They can mimic a dozen of sea critters. It changes as it’s moving depending on what it perceives the threat to be. Sometimes it’s a poisonous flounder, sometimes a poisonous sea snake or even a lionfish.

  7. @nyokki: He also does a convincing sea-urchin type thingy, and if all else fails, still has that whole Ink screen/jet pack thing going.

  8. The mimic octopus has been my favorite critter for years now. Simply amazing to watch them morph into their various disguises.
