Today (Dec 23rd) is his 90th birthday. He was Federal Germany’s Secretary of Defence from ’69 – ’72, Secretary of Treasury from ’72 – ’74 and Federal Chancellor from ’74 – ’82. He was also the co-founder of what is the G8 today. Not politically active anymore, he still is one of Germany’s most popular politicians. The pictures were taken (1) in the early 70′s, (2) 1974 and (3) 2001.

I’ve been wondering, too. But then I heard a few weeks ago that he has a pace maker since 1981.
Okay, that doesn’t say anything about lung cancer but at least his heart won’t stop all of a sudden
